Recycling awardBrookhaven Lab Receives Federal Award for Electronics Recycling
Brookhaven National Laboratory was named a winner in the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive’s third annual Electronics Reuse and Recycling Campaign at a White House ceremony on December 16. The Laboratory reused or recycled 143,600 pounds of electronics during fiscal year 2008, a period from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory has issued its 2006 Site Environmental Report. Report highlights include the Lab's recycling or re-use of more than 13 million pounds of waste, its launch of an open space stewardship program with Suffolk County students and teachers, and its recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for reducing mercury waste and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) use on site.

Jeff WilliamsBrookhaven Lab Wins 2007 Commuter Choice Regional Leadership Award
Brookhaven National Laboratory has won the 2007 Commuter Choice Regional Leadership Award for its numerous programs to encourage ridesharing among 2,600 employees and more than 5,000 visiting scientists each year. The Laboratory was among ten Long Island companies that won awards this year in the regional contest that also includes New York City, Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties.
