All indications show significant, consistent growth in the organic market. According to OTA's 2006 Manufacturer Survey, organic food markets grew 15% to 21 % annually between 1997 and 2005, and, overall, in 2005, the organic industry grew 17%, reaching $14.6 billion in consumer sales. With organic products having market penetration of 2.48% in 2005, demand for organic products expanding, and these products increasingly being sold in mainstream retail establishments, OTA's survey suggests plenty of room for continued growth in the industry.
