Department of Justice Spectrum Management Office

The mission of DOJ Spectrum Management Office is to lead the Department in the management and protection of Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum-dependent resources by:

  • Representing DOJ in national and international forums.
  • Developing and executing policy, plans, procedures, and technical criteria to provide advice, assistance, and guidance to the DOJ Secretarial Officers, Headquarters Program Offices, and field sites on the use of spectrum dependent systems and services.
  • Administering the effective planning, certification, assignment, and efficient use of radio frequency authorizations that support DOJ spectrum dependent systems, facilities, and operations.
  • Re-engineering business processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness in the overall management of spectrum resources through the application of information technology.

United States spectrum management policies are administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for Federal Government users, and by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for all other users.
