In order to maintain my personal as well as my agency’s access to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Early Detection Data System, I understand that:
  1. I must keep my username and password private and secure, for my exclusive individual use.

  2. HEDDS is a repository of avian influenza surveillance data from many contributing sources. Data displayed in HEDDS are owned by the funding and/or contributing agencies. Data are available for authorized individual users to view within the HEDDS system subject to this data use agreement.

  3. If I wish to use HEDDS data including my own agency’s data, for any purpose (e.g. presentation, publication, reports), I must obtain documented consent from the designated representative of the funding agency.

  4. When using data other than my own agency’s, I must appropriately cite the submitting agency as the data source, as well as acknowledge HEDDS in any publication or presentation referencing or displaying data from HEDDS. Users will also include the funding and collecting agency for the data in the acknowledgements. (See example in this document)

  5. Data provided to HEDDS are verified for quality assurance and control by the contributing members, but 100% data integrity can only be guaranteed by collector. These data were collected for disease surveillance purposes and may not be suitable for other interpretations.

  6. Agency data administrators may have chosen to limit data access, so each user may not have access to all data in HEDDS.

  7. References to aggregate HEDDS data must be acknowledged as part of a multi- and inter-agency collaborative effort.
