        AG RENO TO BE BRIEFED BY EXPERTS ON YOUTH VIOLENCE AND GUNS
                          AVAILABILITY TO FOLLOW


     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Monday, October 31, Attorney General
Janet Reno will be briefed by renowned youth violence experts Dr.
Mark Rosenberg, director of the National Center for Injury
Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, and by Dr. Alfred Blumstein of Carnegie-Mellon
University.  

     Immediately following their meeting, at approximately 3:45
p.m., Reno, Rosenberg and Blumstein will be available to the
press to discuss their views on the problem of youth and guns. 
The availability will be held in the Attorney General's
conference room at the Department of Justice.
      
     The event will be open to cameras and federally credentialed
reporters.  Those planning to cover should the entrance on
Constitution between 9th and 10th Streets starting at 3:15 p.m.
