ATTORNEY GENERAL TO HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE


WASHINGTON, D.C. Attorney General John Ashcroft will hold a news conference regarding NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) at ***3:00pm*** in the Attorney General's conference room at Main Justice.

At the beginning of the news conference, he will be joined by Charles James, Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division. They will both make a brief statement regarding the Court of Appeals decision in the Microsoft case. A short background briefing regarding NICS will follow in the Attorney General's conference room.

At approximately 4:00pm, Antitrust Division staff will hold a background briefing regarding today's Microsoft Decision in the Antitrust Division conference room on the third floor, room 3742.
