The Defense Logistics Agency Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) / Privacy Act office provides policies and procedures for implementing the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552) and Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. 552a) within DLA. Under the FOIA, any person has the right to access agency records provided those records have not been exempted from public disclosure. Under the Privacy Act, U.S. Citizens and certain other persons have specific guarantees commonly referred to as the Fair Information Practice Principles. The five core principles are: (1) Notice/Awareness; (2) Choice/Consent; (3) Access/Participation; (4) Integrity/Security; and (5) Enforcement/Redress.
