USDA/ARS at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Urbana, IL Location is comprised of three Management Units; Soybean/Maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics; Invasive Weed Management; and Photosynthesis Research.  The Soybean/Maize Germplasm unit identifies the rate limiting steps in nitrogen metabolism and maintains and evaluates soybean germplasm and corn genetic stocks.  The Invasive Weed Management unit develops improved pest management systems that are efficient and environmentally safe. Research in the Photosynthesis Research unit identifies and modifies rate-limiting factors of the photosynthetic process, including response to  environmental stress and global change.  Effective support services in procurement, personnel, safety, budget, accounting, travel, property and related activities are provided by the Administrative Office and Unit secretaries.
