The West Coast Ballast Outreach Project works collaboratively with partnering organizations throughout the West Coast and Pacific Basin in the development of outreach programs and tools to manage aquatic invasive species (AIS) and ballast water issues. Initiated in 1999 and funded by the National Sea Grant College Program and the CALFED Bay-Delta Program, the project places a priority on facilitating communication and cooperation between private industry, regulators, and researchers concerned with ballast water and AIS management.

Due to budget constraints in the state of California, as of December 17, 2008 work on all projects funded with state bonds has been suspended.  As the West Coast Ballast Outreach project falls under this category, we are unable conduct any project activities, including the mailing of project materials until the budget freeze is lifted.  Please be assured that requests for materials will be kept on file and we will respond as soon as we are able to access grant funds and resume work.  This space will be updated with news as it develops.
