Introduction

The Commercial Agriculture Program is composed of educators specifically tasked to work on multidisciplinary teams to create new opportunities for Missouri entrepreneurs dedicated to profitable and sustainable agriculture and food systems. To accomplish its mission, the Commercial Agriculture Program first visualizes the future competitive landscape in agriculture and identifies challenges that successful agricultural systems will face. Then, it develops focused educational programs to enable entrepreneurs to overcome those challenges and implement those programs emphasizing systems management and entrepreneurial development. Then, it establishes relationships necessary to enable those programs to be effective.

To successfully implement its strategy, the Commercial Agriculture Program develops partnerships with motivated individuals and firms who wish to be part of a profitable and sustainable 21st century agricultural industry. These target audiences include producers, industry associations, government agencies, input suppliers and agribusinesses, extension specialists and other academic faculty.
