Overview of Program Responsibilities

The Water Quality Standards and Special Projects Program is a multidisciplinary environmental program responsible for implementing the Department’s technical responsibilities for the State’s Water Quality Standards Program and various south Florida ecosystem restoration programs. These responsibilities include:

• Continuing effective and efficient implementation of Florida’s Water Quality Standards.

• Providing technical and regulatory support for projects being implemented through the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program, the Everglades Program required by the Everglades Forever Act, and the Lake Okeechobee Protection Program.
