USDA Small Business and Javits-Wagner-O’Day Program Award Winners

NRCS employees, businesses, and contractors were recognized recently at the USDA Small Business and Javits-Wagner-O’Day Program (JWOD) award ceremony. The awards, sponsored by the USDA Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, were presented to the following, businesses, contractors, and NRCS employees.

Nominated by NRCS, Quality Technical Services, Inc., received a USDA Agency Small Business Award; Sloane Associates, Inc., the USDA 2005 Small Disadvantaged Business Contractor of the Year; and Carter Contracting Services, Inc., a USDA Agency Woman-Owned Business Award.

Stillwater, Oklahoma, NRCS employees Luann Lillie, Rattana Kittitornsup-Nantz, and Birdie Neal received a USDA Agency Special Achievement Award for increasing their pool of small and disadvantaged business, establishing close coordination with tribes, and guiding 8(a) vendors through the unique NRCS and Federal contracting requirements. NHQ employees Susan A. Burton and Terry L. Kirby received a USDA Agency JWOD Special Achievement Award for planning and working on the annual JWOD celebration, resolving JWOD blanket purchase agreement issues, and greatly enhancing the workflow and efficiency of their contracting offices.

The USDA conducts an annual small business and JWOD award program to recognize the outstanding work achieved by its employees. It also recognizes small, small disadvantaged, woman-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, and JWOD businesses that have provided exemplary services to USDA
