NRCS Employee Recognized as Unsung Hero

Jolene Lau, NRCS public affairs specialist in Hawaii was the sole NRCS employee and the only Asian American selected to receive a 2005 USDA Unsung Hero Award. Jolene recently received her award at a ceremony in Washington D.C.  during Public Service Recognition Week. She was nominated by her NRCS peers for her outstanding coordination of a career development conference for all USDA employees in Hawaii. The conference was the first of its kind to offer a listening session and workshops for leadership, strategic planning, presentation skills, cultural communication, and productive relationships with others.
