On May 16, NRCS announced $4 million for Wetlands Reserve Enhancement Program partnership proposals that restore and protect habitat for migratory birds and other wetland dependent wildlife. Of these funds, $500,000 will be available for proposals that address bog turtle habitat in the east and $500,000 for Ivory-billed woodpecker habitat in Arkansas. NRCS issued a request for proposals.  USDA news release

An evaluation of the literature on turtles consistently demonstrates the necessity of protecting breeding adults to be successful in reversing population declines.
