CSP 2004 Contract Holders Set to Receive Second-Year Payment
In
2004, the inaugural year for the Conservation Security Program (CSP), nearly
2,200 contracts on 1.9 million acres were developed with farmers and ranchers in the 18 watershed areas
selected for the initial offering. These contract holders received their 2004 CSP payment in September of 2004, with total payments of about $34.5 million
dollars. Currently, NRCS staff in these 18 watersheds are finishing up the
paperwork to begin making the second year payment
for 2005 to these 2,180 contract holders. NRCS uses a modern electronic
payment process where the funds are electronically direct deposited in the
individual’s bank account. The 2005 payments should be completed within the next
six weeks or so, according to NRCS plans.
