International Conference on Biodiversity Informatics

The Encyclopedia of Life and twelve other biodiversity research organizations are co-sponsoring e-Biosphere 09, an international conference that will take place in London on 1-3 June 2009. Biodiversity Informatics is a young field that is making diverse classes of biodiversity data available online and putting these data to work for science and society. The Conference will highlight the accomplishments, capabilities and uses of Biodiversity Informatics and will gather community input for a 5-10 year research roadmap.

Online Communities

The Conference organizers have created an Online Conference Community (OCC). Click below to enter a collaboration and communication environment.

  • What is the OCC for? The e-Biosphere 09 Conference is an opportunity to plan the future of this field. The OCC will bring together the diverse perspectives that make up Biodiversity Informatics so they can prepare their plans and ideas for the Conference.

  • What's on the OCC? Electronic forums, wikis, and other communications tools. OCC users will be asked to register and create user profiles to enable interactions with other OCC users.

  • Who should join the OCC? Taxonomists, ecologists, computer scientists, database operators, and other users of biodiversity data. The OCC is organized into discussion communities that will meet in breakout discussion groups during the Conference.
