Overview of Program Responsibilities
The Water Quality Standards and Special Projects Program
is a multidisciplinary environmental program responsible for implementing
the Department’s technical responsibilities for the State’s Water Quality
Standards Program and various south Florida ecosystem restoration
programs. These responsibilities include:

Continuing effective and efficient implementation of
Florida’s Water Quality Standards.

Providing technical and regulatory support for projects
being implemented through the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration
Program, the Everglades Program required by the Everglades Forever Act,
and the Lake Okeechobee Protection Program.
