SRRC Awards
Dr. John M. Dyer received the 2003 SRRC Early Career Scientist Award for his work on understanding the enzymatic production of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Dr. Gillian Eggleston won the 2003 SRRC Senior Scientist Award for her work on improved sugarcane processing.
Ms. Kelly Williams received the 2003 SRRC Award for Outstanding Contributor to Cultural Diversity.
Dr. Isabel Lima shared the 2003 SRRC award for Technology Transfer Adoption for the development of sunflower butter.
External Awards
Dr. Gillian Eggleston won the outstanding poster presentation award at the American Society Sugarcane Technologists (ASSCT) meeting in St. Petersburg, June 17-18, 2004. The title of her presentation was "Easy and Uniform Measurement of the Activity of Dextranase at the Sugarcane Factory or Refinery."
Dr. John M. Dyer received the Mid South Area's first "Perfect 8" Award his OSQR project-plan.
Mr. Scott M. Pelitire shared the award for Best Graduate Student Presentation from the Southern Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists. His presentation was entitled "Functional Analysis, Subcellular Localization, and Gene Expression Patterns of Four Cytochrome b5 Isoforms Cloned from Developing Tung (Aleurites fordii Hemsl.) Seeds." His talk was given at the group's annual meeting in Lafayette, LA on March 6-8, 2004.

Dr. Thomas Klasson has accepted the position as Research Leader for the Commodity Utilization Research Unit. Dr. Klasson comes to SRRC after many years of experience in water quality research with Battelle Laboratories. He is expected to start his new position August 8, 2004.
Dr. Michael K. Dowd has been invited to serve as the General Program Chair of the 96th AOCS Annual Meeting and Expo to be held in Salt Lake City on May 1-4, 2005.
