Script: Introduction to FSIS Podcasts
Intro:
Welcome to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service podcast. Each episode will bring you cutting edge news and information about how FSIS is working to ensure public health protection through food safety. While we’re on the job, you can rest assured that your meat, poultry, and processed egg products are safe, wholesome, properly labeled, and packaged correctly. So turn up your volume and listen in.

Hello, I’m Al Almanza, the Administrator of the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Thank you for tuning into FSIS’ inaugural podcast.

We continually look for ways to expand our outreach efforts to our diverse audiences and are pleased to add podcasts to our growing list of communication tools. We see podcasts as an exciting new means to inform, educate and communicate with you, our customers. In addition to information on our publications, workshops and training sessions, FSIS podcasts are available on our web site at www.fsis.usda.gov.

Our goal is to provide meaningful information in a user-friendly format, when it’s convenient for you - whether you are at work, at home or on the go.

Initially, many of these podcasts will be targeted toward the owners and operators of small and very small meat, poultry and processed egg products establishments, since these plants represent over 90% of the total number that FSIS inspects every day.

But, soon there will be others targeted to consumers and the general public.

As with everything we do here at FSIS, we value transparency and openness with our customers, and this podcasting venture is no different.

We value your input, opinions, and suggestions for what content will serve you best.

Share your feedback with us by sending an email to podcast@fsis.usda.gov. Or contact us directly by calling (202) 720-9113.

I also encourage you to subscribe to our podcasts. It’s a free service. You can subscribe by simply clicking on the “podcast” button at the top of this page, and you will automatically receive links to our podcasts when they are released.

Podcasts are another link in the information chain that helps us achieve a goal we all want – to ensure food safety and prevent foodborne illness.

Outro:
Well, that’s all for this episode. We’d like your feedback on our podcast. Or if you have ideas for future podcasts, send us an e-mail at podcast@fsis.usda.gov. To learn more about food safety, try our web site at www.fsis.usda.gov. Thanks for tuning in.
