Office of the Secretary - FOIA Web Page

The OS FOIA mailbox address is: osfoia@nbc.gov

The Departmental FOIA Officer does not respond directly to FOIA requests. Therefore, please send your request to the appropriate Office/Bureau. To avoid delay in the processing of your FOIA request, review the FOIA Contacts listing. If you send your FOIA request to the incorrect Office/Bureau, it will be forwarded to the appropriate Office/Bureau which could cause a delay in its processing. If you are seeking general information about DOI or one of its bureaus or offices, you may wish to visit DOI’s home page or contact the Office of Communications/Public Affairs for the appropriate bureau.

NEW! OS FOIA now offers a basic FOIA training course, for individuals or groups. The 3 to 3½ day course, "A Practical Introduction to FOIA Processing," covers the theory and the practice of FOIA processing, includes exercises and other "hand-on" training, and is designed to enable a graduate to perform basic FOIA processing in a Federal government agency. It is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking a refresher course. It can be adapted to particular bureaus and offices, upon request. An evaluation is included to ensure that students have achieved a satisfactory knowledge base upon completion. The course is offered by prearrangement, and can be presented offsite. The course Handbook has been certified by the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

In addition to the above FOIA processing course, OS FOIA also offers a 3-hour course in "Advanced EFTS Techniques," tailored to the needs of the individual or group.

NEW! OS FOIA is also making available, for the use of all bureaus and offices who have internet access, three handy checklists that have proved helpful as EFTS supports:
