Image Archive

Below is a complete inventory of the weed photographs on our web site. These photos are either property of the staff of The Nature Conservancy's Wildland Invasive Species Team, or have been provided by other photographers. After each photo name and description is the name of the photographer. We use the following codes for our staff:
JMR= John M. Randall
BAR= Barry A. Rice
MT= Mandy Tu
We can only provide image rights to photographs taken by JMR, BAR, or MT. If you wish to use images owned by someone else, you must investigate image rights and restrictions directly with those individuals or organizations.

If you use images from our web site, the attribution should be given as
(c)Photographer-name/The Nature Conservancy
where "Photographer-name" should be replaced by the name of the actual photographer.

Animal invaders and pathogens

Who can use these images?
Again, we remind you we only provide rights for those images taken by JMR, BAR, or MT.

Staff of The Nature Conservancy can use our images for TNC work without contacting us ahead of time. We would, however, like to hear when you use them. Appropriate attribution is required.

Scientists/educators needing the images for powerpoint displays or educational, printed media (but not the world wide web), may also use the images. Appropriate attribution is desired when possible.

All other people interested in obtaining one-time, non-exclusive image rights should contact our program at bamrice(at)ucdavis.edu. We only provide images to nonprofit or educational (non-profit bearing) projects. We are not in the business of selling stock photography! Appropriate attribution is required.

If you need higher resolution images than the ones we have on the web, contact us. Given a little time, we may be able to custom-rescan images for you. And one final time, we remind you that we may only provide image rights to photographs taken by BAR, JMR, or MT.

For the Latin-impaired
If you would much rather look for a plant using common names instead of the Latin names, you should look at the "common name search engine." Non-plant invaders are also listed in our management library's "nonplant search engine" on that page.

Note: Read our disclaimer regarding lists of species on our web site.

Gallery of pests
A rogue's gallery of many of the invasive pests and pathogens that have invaded North America, or that have the potential to do so.
Global weed list
An extraordinary database consisting of invasive plant lists, observations, and publications. Look here to learn if a plant has been observed acting as an invader.
