Call for Conservation Papers
29th Annual AAV Conference & Expo with the Association
of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians
August 9-14, 2008
Hyatt Regency Hotel
Savannah, Georgia, USA.
The AAV’s annual Call for Papers deadline is
approaching (Friday, October 26th, 2007) and I would like
to invite you to submit a manuscript summary in one of three areas in
which our members have expressed interest.
As the chair of the conservation committee, I field
questions and comments from any members regarding conservation and
wild birds. This year, our members expressed interest in expanding our
outreach to other bird conservation entities. There was also interest
expressed in holding a conservation symposium, a raptor medicine
symposium, and a session on the use of point-of-care diagnostic
equipment in field research. After discussing these ideas with our
executive committee, it was thought that although all of these are
great suggestions, ultimately we would need to make a decision based
upon how many submissions are made in these categories. So, now, I am
hoping that I can encourage submissions for these categories so that
we can put together an interesting and informative special session to
next year’s conference.
So, if you are involved in bird conservation, raptor
medicine, or the use of point-of-care diagnostics in field research
(need not be limited to avian use), please consider making a
submission and attending our conference. Please note that although
this is a veterinary conference, you need not be a veterinarian, or an
AAV member, to present.
Submit your abstract on the internet at
www.conferenceoffice.com/aav.
If you wish to receive additional information on presenting at the
conference, contact the Conference Office at 303-756-8380.
Sincerely,
Scott Ford, DVM, Dip ABVP-Avian
