Unveiled at Wallkill River NWR's Refuge Day event, the River Maze generated a lot of interest for interpretive and environmental education events. The first of these events included a group of 30 students from the Goshen, N.Y., area that visited the maze as part of their science and environmental education curriculum. Volunteers from the Fiends Groups and refuge staff were on hand to provide a short orientation before the class headed through the maze and then onto refuge trails.
