Lake trout fingerlings are transferred from Jordan River National Fish Hatchery (NFH) to Pendills Creek NFH every spring because Pendills lacks the rearing space needed for fry.  Jordan River NFH rears the fish to about 300 to the pound and then they are shipped off. This year’s fingerlings, which were hatched from eyed eggs at Jordan River, were reared to about 200 fish to the pound and then transferred the week of June 23rd.  Transfer of the fingerlings was delayed due to construction activities at the Pendills Creek facility.  Jordan River NFH is located about 17 miles west of Gaylord, Mich. and an hour south of the Mackinac Bridge.  Pendills Creek NFH is located in Brimley, west of Sault Ste Marie.
