A happy young angler with his catch at the annual Youth Fishing Day at the Lamar Northeast Fishery Center.

The Service's Northeast Fishery Center in Lamar, Penn. hosted 188 registered youth anglers in their 2^nd Annual Youth Recreational Fishing event, a 30% increase over last year's attendance.   The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission collaborated in the event, which also benefited from 32 volunteers from Trout Unlimited and local sportsmen groups.  Anglers ranged in age from 3 to 12 years old, everyone caught fish, and smiles were abundant.  A film crew from The Outdoor Channel was present to record the activity and help spread the word about the importance of connecting children with nature.
