USFWS Connecting With Local College
Midwest Region, March 4, 2008
Print Friendly Version
The Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount Minnesota has invited the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to discuss a variety of natural resource issues and the day-to-day work that the Service does to conserve fish and wildlife resources as part of its “Environmental Science” class.  Dave Warburton, Twin Cities Ecological Services Field Office, provided an overview of environmental toxicology to the class March 4, identifying how chemicals in our environment can affect fish, wildlife, and plants; and described some of the projects the Service is working on in Minnesota through our Environmental Contaminants (EC) Program to prevent contaminant problems and to restore habitat harmed by toxic pollution.  Good questions from, and discussions with, the students provided a great opportunity to help this next generation further understand, and hopefully appreciate, the Service’s conservation mission and responsibilities.
