Bald Eagle Monitoring Plan Main Focus of Atlantic Flyway Tech Committee Meeting
Midwest Region, July 24, 2007
Print Friendly Version

The Bald Eagle Post-Delisting Monitoring Plan was the main agenda item for the non-game technical section of the Atlantic Flyway.  At their request, Jody Millar Bald Eagle Post-Delisting Monitoring Coordinator of the Rock Island Field Office attended the summer meeting to participate in their review and discussion. The non-game technical committees of the four flyway councils had all been requested to provide peer review of the draft Bald Eagle Post-Delisting Monitoring Plan.  The technical committee was using its summer meeting to gain understanding of the issues, coordinate comments, and provide a letter for approval by the Atlantic Flyway Council.  Dan Brauning of Pennsylvania Game Commission chaired the technical committee along with representatives from Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Maine, New York, and New Hampshire.  By attending the meeting, issues were able to be clarified on the spot, allowing the formal comments to be restricted to a few key items.  Some of the issues confronting the states with bald eagle post-delisting monitoring implementation were also identified.

Comments will be taken on the bald eagle post-delisting monitoring plan from the public through October 9, 2007.  A downloadable copy of the plan and directions on where to provide comments may be found at the following website: http://www.fws.gov/midwest/eagle/DraftBAEAPDM.html
