Journal Entry   Back Youth Waterfowl Hunt and Field Day Southwest Region, December 21, 2006 Print Friendly Version The second annual Youth Waterfowl Hunt and Field Day was held on December 21 and 22, 2006.  The event was carried out in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and the Oklahoma State Game Warden Association.  The program is directed toward junior hunters between the ages of 14 and 15 and includes a day of hunter education, use of decoys and calls, a retriever demonstration and a trap shoot prior to a guided waterfowl hunt.  There were 24 participants chosen from all over the state.  Eight ODWC game wardens served as class instructors and hunting guides along with assistance from representatives of Ducks Unlimited, local volunteers and Sequoyah NWR staff.  An excellent noon meal was cooked on site by the Game Warden Association.
