Green Bay Field Office Helps Guide Development of Wisconsin Whooping Crane Management Plan
Midwest Region, December 6, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Joel Trick of the Green Bay Field Office served as one of three members of a steering committee charged with guiding development of the Wisconsin Whooping Crane Management Plan.

The plan, which was approved by the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board, will be used by the state to inform management decisions and guide management actions.  The plan is expected to serve as a model for other states and for management of whooping cranes throughout the Eastern flyway, and represents the collective contribution of numerous participants throughout the multi-year process, which included input from the public.

The Wisconsin Whooping Crane Management Plan will serve as an important reference on the biology of the species, identifies strategies for management, and identifies critical research needs.  The document is intended to be dynamic, and to incorporate new information as it becomes available.
