Arlington ESFO assists in the planning of North Texas Wind Power Projects
Southwest Region, August 24, 2006
Print Friendly Version

On August 24, 2006, the Arlington Field Office met with FPL Energy and a representative of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to discuss numerous wind energy development projects in north central Texas. FPL Energy is one of the largest wind energy developers in the United States, and currently operates 11 wind farms in Texas. The meeting involved four proposed projects sites, one of which has been determined to have endangered black-capped vireos present. FPL Energy has also indicated their interest in pursuing a regional Habitat Conservation Plan for potential impacts resulting from construction and operation of their wind facilities occurring within the black-capped vireo’s range in Texas.
