Journal Entry   Back Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Releases Rehabilitated Immature Bald Eagle 10 Region, June 10, 2006 Print Friendly Version The NAL participated in the Iowa Tribe Eagle Release Ceremony held at the Sequoyah NWR on June 10, 2006.  The Tribe made history as they were the first Tribe in the country to release a fully rehabilitated eagle.  This immature bald eagle was recovering from gun shot wounds and placed by Acting Regional Director Dr. Benjamin Tuggle, into the Tribes’ new Eagle Aviary/Rehab Center during the Dedication Ceremony on January 12, 2006.  Only 5 months later, on June 10, 2006, the immature bald eagle was release back to the wild by the Iowa Tribe.  The Iowa Tribe Eagle Aviary/Rehabilitation Center (Bah Kho-je Xla Chi - Grey Snow Eagle House) provides care for non-releasable eagles and injured eagles.  The injured eagles will be rehabilitated for release back to the wild.  The Tribe collects the molted feathers for ceremonial use.  This facility was funded by a FWS Tribal Wildlife Grant of $250,000.
