Buenos Aires NWR Appreciates VolunteerBird WalkLeaders
Southwest Region, April 7, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Buenos Aires NWR is indebted to the core group of dedicated volunteers from the Tucson Audubon Society who conduct guided bird walks on the refuge riparian trail at Arivaca Cienega.  These loyal folks usher birdwatchers through this seasonal wetland every Saturday, November through April, identifying the varied bird life and explaining riparian ecology at the Cienega.  The walk leaders were honored at an April 7th luncheon at the town of Amado, where each received volunteer shirts, hats, and Fish & Wildlife Service nametags.  Through their guided walks, this core group of 8 to 10 birders provides valuable conservation education and also contributes to the species database maintained by the refuge.
