EARTH DAY - BAY DAY CELEBRATION

  Several staff members from the Corpus Christi Ecological Services Field Office (CCESFO) participated in the Earth Day – Bay Day celebration on April 22, 2006, in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Approximately 15,000 people were in attendance.  The CCESFO staff provided information on endangered species, invasive species, the importance of recycling, and provided activities for youth including fish printing and a quiz on collision hazards for migratory birds.  The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation and the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program sponsored the annual event.  In addition to the Fish and Wildlife Service representation by CCESFO staff, representatives from Padre Island National Seashore (National Park Service), the U.S. Coast Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas General Land Office, Audubon Society, Center for Coastal Studies from Texas A&M University presented educational activities and materials at their booths.
