Native American Students Learn About Mexican Wolf Recovery

On April 7^th, 50 high school students from the Santa Fe Indian School participated in a presentation about the Service’s Mexican Gray wolf recovery program.  ORP Kim King-Wrenn, from the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge, which participates in the recovery program by hosting a captive breeding and acclimatization facility, presented the program as a follow-up to her visit to the school earlier in the year when she presented a wolf workshop in which the school’s biology teacher, Emily Talmage, had participated. The four classes of juniors and seniors were very interested in the wolf’s role as a predator and in the Service’s role in the reintroduction program.
