Malpai Borderlands Group Safe Harbor Agreement has first landowner enroll
Southwest Region, September 14, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Malpai Borderlands Group was issued a Section 10(a)(1)(A) enhancement of survival permit associated with a Safe Harbor Agreement for Chiricahua leopard frogs in April 2004.  The Malpai Borderlands group includes approximately 1,000,000 acres within the covered area.  The first certificate of inclusion was signed by landowners, Matt and Anna Magoffin, on September 14, 2005.  A ceremonial signing was held at the Malpai Borderlands Group board meeting on October 6, 2005.  The Magoffins included three of their livestock tanks and a refugium they constructed. They propose to construct a second refugia and repair leaks in the original. Their certificate of inclusion expires in April 2025.  The certificate of inclusion will further promote the recovery of the threatened Chiricahua leopard frog.
