2005 Tribal Wildlife Grant Agreements Approved

In September 2005, External Affairs, Native American Liaison, and the Division of Federal Assistance, approved four Grant Agreements for the 2005 Tribal Wildlife Grant Program.  These Grant Agreements are: 1) Mescalero Apache Tribe (NM) - $249,923 to raise Rio Grande cutthroat trout at the Mescalero Tribal Fish Hatchery and distribute them on southwestern Tribal lands; 2) Pueblo of Acoma (NM) - $250,000 to assess bighorn sheep populations and habitat and Rocky Mountain elk populations and their habitat use; 3) Pueblo of Santa Ana (NM) - $149,997 to assess Rio Grande silvery minnow populations and their habitat; and 4) Peoria Tribe (OK) - $240,000 to assess populations of the Neosho Mucket and Neosho Madtom in the Spring and Neosho Rivers.
