Kootenai NWR Hosts the GLOBE Program
Pacific Region, July 7, 2005
Print Friendly Version
GLOBE 2005

This summer, Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge hosted 14 educators from Northern Idaho who participated in a two-day GLOBE teacher training workshop. The workshop provided the educators with hands-on training in various environmental fields so that they could translate their training to their students in the classroom. The Refuge provided an excellent backdrop in the atmospheric, soils, hydrology, and land cover fields.

?GLOBE is a worldwide hands-on, primary and secondary school-based education and science program.? GLOBE provides teachers professional development workshops, teacher's guides, how-to videos, and contact with other teachers, students, and even scientists worldwide. GLOBE also provides students the opportunity to take scientific field measurements and report the results through the internet, learn how to create maps and charts on an interactive website, and to collaborate with scientists and other students worldwide.

This workshop is just another partnership that Kootenai NWR has formed in order to fully implement the ?Big 6" in Northern Idaho.
