Summer Youth Work Program
Southwest Region, July 8, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Refuge served as a worksite for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma summer youth work program. The program provides employment to Choctaw youths between the ages of 14-17. The 160 hour program began on June 13, 2005 and ended on July 8, 2005. Keith Battiest, a 17 year old Broken Bow resident, worked at the refuge through the program. Keith assisted the refuge staff on many projects, which included American Burying Beetle surveys, breeding bird surveys, and general maintenance projects. Keith's hard work and dedication helped accomplish several projects on the Refuge and his accomplishments were greatly appreciated.
