Earth Day- Bay Day Celebration

Several staff members from the Corpus Christi Ecological Service Field Office (CCESFO) participated in the Earth Day ? Bay Day celebration on April 23, 2005, in Corpus Christi, TX. The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation and the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program sponsor this annual event. The CCESFO staff provided information on endangered species, the importance of recycling, and using native plants for landscaping. Games entitled, ?Bird Identification?, ?Seaside Detective? and ?Trash or Treasure?? were developed by the CCESFO staff and were available for children to play while they visited the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service exhibit. Other organizations that participated in the Earth Day- Bay Day celebration included, but were not limited to, the National Park Service, National Weather Service, University of Texas Marine Science Institute, Texas General Land Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas State Aquarium, the Texas Zoo, Gulf Coast Indian Federation, City of Corpus Christi, Audubon Outdoor Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the Coastal Bend Sierra Club. Over 10,000 members of the public visited the event.
