Final Coordination Act Report to International Boundary&Water Commission on Rio Grande Canalization
Southwest Region, April 7, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On March 31, 2005, the New Mexico Ecological Services Field Office Federal Activities Branch provided the United States Section of the International and Boundary Water Commission (USIBWC) a final Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act Report (CAR) for the Rio Grande Canalization Project. The Canalization Project is part of a USIBWC Environmental Impact Statement designed to identify opportunities for environmental enhancements, while meeting mandates for flood protection and water delivery. The CAR evaluated the maintenance and construction activities proposed by the USIBWC and provided recommendations to protect, maintain, and improve fish and wildlife resources and their habitats along the Rio Grande. The CAR included recommendations to avoid and minimize impacts to fish and wildlife resources as well as identified opportunities for environmental enhancements.
