Print Friendly Version
Through the combined efforts of the Division of Federal Assistance and External Affairs, the Grant Agreement (GA) for the 2004 Santa Ana Tribal Landowner Incentive Program (TLIP) project titled "Willow Swale Development and Surveys for the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus americanus) on the Pueblo of Santa Ana, Sandoval County, New Mexico" was approved on February 3, 2005. With this grant award of $149,947, the Pueblo will conduct formal surveys for Southwestern willow flycatchers and Yellow-billed cuckoos. They will also develop additional willow swales which serve as important habitat for these and other neotropical bird species. Most importantly, this grant will create an oppportunity to build the Pueblo's capacity to provide for wildlife and their habitat and reinforce the concept of proper wildlife management on the Pueblo. The GA is effective February 1, 2005 and runs through December 31, 2006. The Santa Ana Pueblo Department of Natural Resources is responsible for implementing this Grant Agreement.
