Lake Woodruff NWR and friends group work to restore habitat

The Friends of Lake Woodruff NWR recently received a $5,000 grant from the National Wildlife Refuge Association to restore an area of the refuge that was once a commercial fern grower. Using a mix of native grasses and groundcovers, staff members and volunteers hand-seeded approximately one acre on Saturday, December 11th. The area will eventually include an interpretive trail, signage, and a backyard habitat display.
