Journal Entry   Back Hunt Season Opens at Ridgefield NWR; Compliments Abound Pacific Region, October 16, 2004 Print Friendly Version The Ridgefield NWR waterfowl hunt season opened on Saturday, October 16th. Refuge staff worked around the clock to prepare the hunt area for opening day. Thanks to staff and volunteer help, the season opener went off without a hitch. Many hunters commented on how great the hunt area looked and how impressed they were with the hunt quality. 51 adult hunters and 5 youth hunters attended opening day. The most productive hunt blinds averaged 4.5 birds per hunter; while the overall average was 2 ducks per hunter. There were also three people who came to watch and learn and some hunters were from as far away as Seattle. The season will continue to gain momentum as cold weather to the north pushes waterfowl south to the Refuge. No contact information available.
