href="http://wallkillriver.fws.gov/>Wallkill River (N.J.) National Wildlife Refuge hosted its third annual Take Me Fishing event on June 12.

This children's introduction to angling was attended by 30 kids and 58 adults. This success would not have occurred without the contribution of

refuge volunteer Kevin Lowry who coordinated the event. Support was provided by several partners. The Service's Regional Office provided a

matching grant for tackle, trophies, and supplies. New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife provided a stocking truck, fish, and an interpretive

demonstration. The Double V Rod and Gun Cub provided eight instructors and donated 50 trout. Franklin Wal-Mart donated tackle and snacks and

volunteer Art Woodell donated rods and reels for prizes. Children caught several bass, sunfish, bullhead and trout. Additionally, kids enjoyed

stocking fish, including several large albino catfish. Photographers from two local newspapers took pictures at the event.
