Hey all. EOL is such an awesome project. I'd love to contribute. Is there a way I can license EOL to use the photos, but only EOL? People sometimes want to buy the rights to my pics for publication, and I'm afraid if license to them is unlimited it will throw a monkey wrench into their publication with other outfits. But because I believe in the project I'd be happy to give them up, but just to EOL. I added four today. Just to see if I could figure out the process.

I would think if you use the Creative Commons "Attribution-NonCommercial License" that would cover it

By applying a CC license, you retain the copyright. You could specify that they could not be used for commercial purposes without asking, as Martin says (CC-BY-NC). That would not prevent other projects from using them for non-commercial purposes (as long as they give you credit), but means if anybody wants to use them for commercial use they'd have to get a different license directly from you to do that.
Note: I've been advised that once you've released something under a CC license, you probably could not transfer the copyright to others, you could only provide them a license where they could use the images but you would keep the copyright.
I'm glad you believe in EOL. I want to make sure you know what the CC license means. If you think you might transfer copyright for an image, you probably don't want to release it under a CC license.

Salud, all. I was wondering about this, too. Could someone explain the licenses in more detail? I want to protect my pics, but as a writer and photographer, I'd like to be able to sell them later. Cyanocorax, you said that with a CC license one can provide a license for use of a pic but cannot transfer the copywrite. Is that bad in the photo industry? I'm new at this, so I want to make sure I understand.
Also, would it be wise to watermark our photos before posting?
