Association of Avian Veterinarians Australian Committee

Our group held its first international conference in 1985 in Melbourne, as a Special Interest Group of the Australian Veterinary Poultry Association. Some avian veterinarians have been members of the Association of Avian Veterinarians since 1986. In October 1990, the AAVAC was formed and acted as a subcommittee of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. The aim of the AAV is to advance and promote avian medicine and stewardship.

AAVAC full members receive:

  • The Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery, an international journal on the medicine and surgery of captive and wild birds, publishes original and retrospective scientific articles, case reports, editorials, abstracts of selected scientific articles, book reviews, a what’s your diagnosis? section, and news of upcoming meetings. The JAAV is published quarterly by the AAV.
  • The AAV and AAVAC Newsletters
