Every five years, the U.S. Census Bureau collects statistical information about public employee retirement systems as part of the Census of Governments.  The 1992 Census of Governments covers retirement systems activity for fiscal years that ended between July 1, 1991 and June 30, 1992.  The 1992 Census of Governments covered 2,276 public employee retirement systems.
