Summer camp for 7th and 8th graders
June 8 - 12, 2008

summer camp logoThe purpose of the TOTAL summer program is to introduce students to a college environment and various career opportunities within the field of Technology. During your stay we hope to increase your awareness to technical career choices and encourage you to take the appropriate high school courses in Math, Science and English to better prepare yourself for college and the College of Technology. Participants will be introduced to many hands-on learning experiences offered by the eight technology departments listed in the brochure. Some of the activities may include visiting the Purdue airport, learning about surverying in Building Construction Management, energy in Mechanical Engineering Technology, graphic design in Computer Graphics Technology and many more (Tentative agenda).

Location

flight simulationPurdue University is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Lafayette-West Lafayette area is 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis, and 90 miles southeast of Gary. Major bus lines provide service to West Lafayette and Amtrak trains make daily stops in Lafayette en route to Chicago and Indianapolis.

Registration

To register, please submit the Registration form (Word doc) and Parental Authorization (Word doc) along with the camp fees to the address listed in the brochure. Enrollment is limited to the first 30 registrants.

building a bridgeParticipants will receive a confirmation of their registration from Purdue OCEC Business Services. The TOTAL summer camp program will take place Sunday, June 8, to Thursday, June 12, 2008. The program will conclude on Thursday, June 12th with a luncheon and an awards presentation for participants and their parents/guardians at noon.

Accommodations

Participants may check in on Sunday, June 8, between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. in Earhart Hall located at the corner of 1st St. and MacArthur (See the map for directions). Please allow ample travel time because the program will begin promptly at 4 p.m. EST.

Costs

working on a projectThrough the generous support of several corporate sponsors, we are able to offer reduced rates for this residential camp. The cost to attend the TOTAL summer camp is $150 per person and includes all accommodations, meals, and activities. The fees should be submitted with the application as a check for $150 made payable to Purdue University. Payment may also be made by credit card and mailed. Application without the $150 fee will not be guaranteed a place in the program. If a scholarship is needed, please contact Susan Martinez Manahan as soon as possible.

Transportation

Transportation to and from the camp will be the responsibility of parents/guardians of camp participants.
