College of Technology TEAM Summer Camp Program

TEAM (Technology Expanding All Minds)

Summer camp for 8th and 9th graders
June 22 - 26, 2008

summer camp logoThe purpose of the TEAM summer program is to introduce young people to a college environment and all the career opportunities in Technology. Students will be introduced to the College of Technology through activities/experiences that would be of interest to young women. During your stay we hope to increase your awareness of technical career choices and encourage you to take the appropriate high school courses in Math, Science and English to better prepare yourself for college and the College girl working on a pcof Technology. Participants will be introduced to many hands-on learning experiences offered by the eight technology departments listed in the brochure. Some of the activities will include visiting the Purdue airport, learning about manufacturing processes in Mechanical Engineering Technology, graphic design in Computer Graphics Technology and many more (Tentative agenda).

Location

girl working on a robotPurdue University is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Lafayette-West Lafayette area is 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis, and 90 miles southeast of Gary. Major bus lines provide service to West Lafayette and Amtrak trains make daily stops in Lafayette en route to Chicago and Indianapolis.

Registration

girl in a flight simulatorTo register, please submit the Registration (Word doc) and Parental Authorization (Word doc) forms along with the camp fees to the address on the registration. Enrollment is limited to the first 30 registrants.

Participants will receive a confirmation of their registration from Purdue OCEC Business Services. The TEAM summer camp program will take place Sunday, June 22, to Thursday, June 26. The program will conclude on Thursday, June 26 with a luncheon and an awards presentation for participants and their parents or guardians at noon.

Accommodations

campers taking a computer apartParticipants may check in on Sunday, June 22, between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. in Hillenbrand Hall at the corner of 3rd St. and MacArthur Dr. (See the map for directions). Please allow ample travel time because the program will begin promptly at 4 p.m. EST.

Costs

Through the generous support of several corporate sponsors, we are able to offer reduced rates for this residential camp. The cost to attend the TEAM summer camp is $200 per person and includes all accommodations, meals, and activities. The fees should be submitted with the application as a check for $200 made payable to Purdue University. Payment may also be made by credit card and mailed. A Registration without the $200 fee will not be guaranteed a place in the program. If a scholarship is needed, please contact Susan Martinez Manahan as soon as possible.

Transportation

Transportation to and from the camp will be the responsibility of parents or guardians of camp participants.
