Michael A. Sporcic is a Conservation Agronomist (Wind Erosion Specialist)
located in Fort Worth, Texas. In this position, his duties include:
developing and maintaining guidance on the application of wind erosion
prediction technologies; serving as the agency technical leader for the Wind
Erosion Prediction System (WEPS); managing the national databases used in wind
erosion prediction technologies; serving as the national point of contact for
assistance to WEPS
users; and developing and conducting training sessions and workshops on wind
erosion technologies.
Mr. Sporcic has served in several positions within the USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS). Since 1999, he has served as the NRCS state
agronomist for New Mexico. He previously served in the positions of area
conservation agronomist, soil conservationist, and soil conservation technician
for NRCS in Washington State. He also served as a research/extension program
assistant for two years with the Washington State University Cooperative
Extension Service in Pullman, Washington. He has been a certified crop advisor
for 10 years. He has 20 years of experience in working with wind and water
erosion prediction models.

Education
- BS Degree in Agronomy from Washington State University, Pullman,
Washington. He began his career with the NRCS in 1975.
